Data sources and attribution
Planning applications
Planning application data is from the National Planning Application Database, published by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, used under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence. We remove applicant names and addresses, classify the works by type, and calculate distances. Councils update this data on their own schedule, sometimes weeks apart, so every answer from Gaffwork says how current each council's data is.
Each lead links to the council's own planning file, which is the official record.
Places
Town and place names are from GeoNames, used under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0. Visitor countries on our own statistics come from the IP Geolocation by DB-IP Lite database, used under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0. Eircode areas are approximate, calculated from the locations of planning applications.
